He serves on the Student Council and recently became a Senior Mentor. He is the Student Body Representative at the monthly Board of Education meeting. In these roles, Burns represents and advocates for his peers.

Outside of school, Burns enjoys being involved in his community. He is a member of the RiverBend Growth Association Young Adults Committee and the Wood River Business Alliance Youth In Action leader. He regularly volunteers with the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club and recently joined the Experimental Aircraft Association as a chapter member.

Burns’s hard work has not gone unnoticed. He received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and the Daughters of the American Revolution Youth Citizenship Award. He has been a gold-tier Renaissance winner every year since he was a freshman.

Burns has big plans for the future. As they always do, his teachers and loved ones will be cheering him on.

“I plan on attending the U.S. Air Force Academy to become a pilot in the Air Force. My backup plan is to attend a four-year university to obtain an aviation degree and complete all of the certifications required to become an airline pilot,” he said. “I am deeply involved in my school and community with service and initiative. I am also a goal-driven individual who maintains a number one class rank and a clear plan following high school.”

Congratulations to Jace for this recognition from Fischer Lumber and East Alton-Wood River High School!
