WOOD RIVER - Peyton Adams, a senior at East Alton-Wood River High, is being recognized for volleyball after four years of work in the sport and in the classroom.
Adams, who is coached by Bethany Hoyland, said the accomplishment reflects “working hard all four years of high school in volleyball and my schoolwork.”

Adams is a Midwest Members Credit Union Female Athlete Of The Month for the Oilers.
Adams has played volleyball for 10 years and said the sport has been meaningful because of the relationships she has built.
“I love the bonds I have made with my teammates and coaches,” Adams said.
She also credited athletics with helping her grow during high school.
“Playing sports has allowed me to make more friends and put myself out there,” Adams said.
Adams said she would like to thank her mother, Casey Nichols, “for being at every single one of my games to support me.”
In the classroom, Adams said she is in the National Honor Society and has a 4.2 GPA. She said she does not plan to continue playing volleyball in college and would like to go into criminology.
