For her dedication, Aurora Younger is a Hayner Public Library District Student of the Month for Alton High School.

Younger, a junior, is deeply involved in the high school’s music program. She plays in the band, symphonic orchestra, jazz band and Marching 100. She also sings in the choir. Outside of school, she participates in the RiverBend Community Orchestra. She has a lot of passion for music and spends most of her time engaging with it.

Younger is also a member of the Student Council, where she advocates for her peers. She has participated in the Creative Writing Club, Calliope, Bio Club and Scholar Bowl. She serves as an officer with Revive Club.

Clearly, Younger stays busy. But she also gives back to the community through her volunteer work. She regularly volunteers with Alton Main Street and other groups. It’s important to her to help those around her.

She has a part-time job and enjoys playing pickleball in her spare time. Younger is a major member of her school and the greater Alton community, both of which are lucky to have her.

“I spend a lot of time in the community, going to and performing at events and giving back to the people who make our town a better place,” she shared. “I love movies, especially behind the scenes. I got to spend a week on the set of the movie adaptation of ‘Reanimator,’ which was one of the best weeks of my life. Anytime volunteer work is presented to me and I can fit into my schedule, I jump at that opportunity.”

Congratulations to Aurora for this recognition by Alton High School and the Hayner Public Library District!
