Wyatt Perry Spreads Kindness At Jersey Community High School

JERSEYVILLE – Wyatt Perry makes a positive impact on his fellow students and teachers every day at Jersey Community High School.

For helping others and showing kindness to all, Perry has been named a September 2026 Jersey State Bank Student of the Month at Jersey Community High School.

Currently in his freshman year at JCHS, Perry has been a member of Blue Crew for three years, Glow Crew for two years and Special Olympics for one year. He also won 2nd place in the shot put competition at the Illinois State Special Olympics.

Outside of school, Perry can be found working on the family farm. In his spare time, he enjoys sprinting and running, drawing, making artwork, building LEGO sets, going camping and spending time with family and friends.

“I like to spread kindness to everyone,” Perry added.

Maddie Brown is one teacher at JCHS who has seen Perry’s kindness firsthand.

“Wyatt is always so helpful and kind to his teachers and peers in his classes. He is always there to greet you with a smile and is a very positive part of many teachers' days at JCHS,” Brown said. “He helps other students before his classes to get their supplies ready for the class period and stays behind to help his teachers get everything put back away. He is an awesome kid!”

Principal Thomas Leslie said Perry’s consistent compassion has made him a positive role model for all.

“Wyatt and I go way back and every, single day he is just a ray of sunshine to everyone who encounters him at JCHS,” Leslie said. “He is kind, compassionate, and a great friend to all. We should all strive to be a little more like Wyatt Perry.”
