ROXANA - Madison John is taking on key roles for Roxana this fall and spring, playing No. 1 singles in tennis and second base in softball as the 2026-27 school year unfolds, with her play helping the Shells in early fall competition, including a narrow 5-4 home tennis victory over Vandalia.
John, a senior, won her No. 1 singles match against Vandalia this season and teamed with Alexis Dopuch for a doubles win. Those results helped Roxana secure the 5-4 victory in its first home match of the season.

In softball, John wears No. 8, plays second base and bats with intense power. She had five home runs on the year and is noted for strong defense, a strong batting average and being a team player.
She is a Midwest Members Credit Union Female Athlete of the Month for the Shells.
As a junior, John hit .482 with 40 hits in 83 at-bats. She also had 30 RBIs, eight doubles, five home runs and two triples.
John is one of Roxana’s top spring and fall athletes as the school year unfolds, with roles at the top of the tennis lineup and in the middle of the softball order.
Roxana girls softball coach Pat Brannon said John is "a great defensive player, had a great batting average last season and does whatever I ask of her on the field. She is a great team player."
