Heat Advisory in Effect as Hot, Humid Weather Brings Spotty Storm Chances

Tuesday starts mostly clear and muggy, with temperatures in the upper 60s early and a quick climb after sunrise. By late morning, the heat begins to take over, and a Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the area.

Through the afternoon, expect a mix of sun and passing clouds with the high reaching 99. A spotty thunderstorm may pop up, mainly later in the day, with a 55% chance of rain. Any storm that develops could bring brief gusts up to 15 mph and small hail. It will feel hotter than the thermometer, with feels like values as high as 105.

Tuesday evening stays warm and humid, and another thunderstorm is possible before skies turn partly cloudy. Rain chances remain at 55%. Winds ease back as the sun goes down, making for a quieter but still sticky night.

Overnight, the low settles near 72 under partly cloudy skies. It will stay warm enough that stepping outside late will still feel more like midsummer than mid-September.

The allergy index is running high because of ragweed, which is listed as very high today. Grass, mold and tree pollen are all low.

Wednesday brings a high near 95 and a low around 72, with a hot and humid day ahead and another chance for a spotty thunderstorm.
