Maggie Pruetzel Fires Personal Best 34 for Marquette Catholic

WOOD RIVER — With every player in its lineup finishing among the top 12 individuals, the Marquette girls golf team placed first Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, in a nine-hole match against Roxana, Red Bud and Civic Memorial at Belk Park Golf Course.

Maggie Pruetzel led Marquette with a personal-best nine-hole score of 2-under-par 34, earning medalist honors.

The Explorers shot a team score of 168. Roxana and Red Bud tied for second with 214, while Civic Memorial finished with 231.

Marquette head girls golf coach Jacob Simmons said the team is looking to keep competing well before a busy stretch that includes four tournaments. One of those is the Mike Rusk Invite in Decatur, where Marquette will be paired with Morton, Wilmette Loyola Academy and Barrington, which Coach Simmons said is currently ranked first in the state across Class 1A and 2A.

Next week, Marquette will compete for the Gateway Metro Conference title Wednesday at Stonewolf Golf Course against Father McGivney, Althoff Catholic, and Maryville Christian.
