Collinsville Girls Volleyball Opens Strong Then Survives Alton Challenge

Johnson delivered key points, aces and kills as the Kahoks took command early before finishing off the Redbirds in a tighter second set.

ALTON - Collinsville swept Alton 25-10, 25-23 in a girls volleyball match at the Redbirds Nest, taking control in the opening set and holding off a stronger Redbirds challenge in the second to secure the win.

The Kahoks had a relatively easy time in the first set before Alton pushed back in the second. Collinsville still closed out the match to move to 8-4, while Alton fell to 2-8.

Avery Johnson led Collinsville with 10 points and three aces, adding six kills. Zykia McMorris also had six kills for the Kahoks, along with two blocks and an assist.

Alyssa Juenger had nine assists for Collinsville, and Natalie Thompson added eight.
