Illinois firefighter and teacher organizations backed the congresswoman, who said the endorsements reflect her work on workers’ rights and good-paying jobs.

Congresswoman Nikki BudzinskiSPRINGFIELD – Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski released the following statement after receiving endorsements from the Illinois Federation of Teachers and the Associated Firefighters of Illinois:

“My goal has always been to lift up working people and make sure they have a voice in Congress. That means standing with the teachers who educate our kids, the firefighters who are on the frontlines responding to emergencies and the countless working people who show up every day to serve their neighbors.

“I’m incredibly honored to have the support of the Illinois Federation of Teachers and the Associated Firefighters of Illinois. These endorsements are a reflection of the work we’ve done together to strengthen workers’ rights, protect good-paying jobs, and make sure working families have a fair shot at getting ahead.

“I’ll keep fighting every day to deliver for the people of Central and Southern Illinois. And when Democrats take back the House, I’ll be ready to get to work delivering real results for working people.”

Born in Peoria, Illinois, Nikki is the granddaughter of a union painter and public-school teachers. Nikki has over ten years’ experience in the labor movement, working for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union and International Association of Fire Fighters. Nikki is also the former Chief of Staff at the Office of Management and Budget in the Biden Administration and Senior Advisor to Governor JB Pritzker.
