Lane Closures Begin On Illinois 3 in Alton For Bridge Construction

The Illinois Department of Transportation said one lane in each direction on Homer Adams Parkway between Bloomer Drive and College Avenue will stay open during the work through spring 2027.

ALTON – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that lane closures on Illinois 3 (Homer Adams Parkway) between Bloomer Drive and College Avenue in Madison County began Friday, Sept. 18, for bridge construction. One lane in each direction will remain open.

The lane restrictions are expected to remain in place through spring 2027.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
