Steward Surpasses 100 Yards, Scores Two TDs In Kahoks Home Victory
The Kahoks marked their first Southwestern Conference game in nearly eight years with a balanced effort that started on defense and built momentum from there.
COLLINSVILLE - Running back Lazarion Steward was remarkable in a 28-6 Kahoks win this past Friday night, Sept. 11, 2026, in Collinsville, scoring two touchdowns in the game.

It was a very workmanlike effort for the Kahoks, but the Warriors showed much improvement in the last four years, and while it's still a work in progress, Collinsville head coach Colton Rhodes was very much impressed with Granite's improvement.
"I think they did a great job," Rhodes said. "I think coach (Sherand) Boyd (Jr.)'s doing a great job with this team this season, and he's got his kids playing hard, which is half the battle these days. He's doing a great job of getting those kids to play hard. He's putting them into positions to succeed, so I'm happy for Granite, and I'm glad to see them starting to build something."
For the Kahoks' part, it was a very workmanlike effort from Collinsville, which started with the defense getting a first quarter safety, and moving on from there.
"I think our guys did a good job of executing," Rhodes said. "We started off a little slow and sluggish, but after that first quarter, we kind of started finding some things to get successful at. I wish that we could have had a little more success, but a win's a win, and we're not going to complain about that."
Steward went over 100 yards rushing in the game, and he's definitely a major part of the Collinsville offensive schemes.
"Like we said last time, he's a great kid, great person, great athlete," Rhodes said about his star running back. "We're always going to lean on Lazarion, so he can make things happen. The O-line up front will block for him, and those guys did a good job tonight. We're going to have some success."
It was the first Southwestern Conference game in nearly eight years for Collinsville, and it was a great feeling to be back in the league.
"Yeah, it's fun to get back into the conference," Rhodes said, "and the first game being a win. So, I'm proud of our team and our coaching staff for getting our kids ready, and they did a great job. All credit to those kids, and how hard they worked this week. There's no games off now. We've got five more weeks, and they're all going to be tough, so no games off."
Collinsville's opening possession looked promising, but ended with an interception, but the defense got things started on the right foot by creating a safety when a bad snap on a punt resulted in the ball being recovered by the Warriors in their own end zone, giving the Kahoks a 2-0 lead. Collinsville immediately cashed in on the score after receiving the free kick and taking it back deep into Granite territory, where Steward ran in from 11 yards out to make the score 9-0 after the convert.
In the second quarter, Steward scored again, this time going in after a 12-yard run that made the halftime score 16-0. The Warriors did have some good opportunities, but were thwarted by either a good defensive play by Collinsville, or untimely penalties that set the ball further back.
In the third quarter, quarterback Jayden Schultze ran in from a yard out to make the score 22-0 after a two-point convert pass missed, after which Schultze exited the game due to a lower-body injury. Leshawn Wright took the reins, and later hit Cain Wilson with a touchdown pass in the third to make it 28-0 after the convert was missed.
The Warriors kept plugging and working, and in the fourth quarter, it paid off when Jesus Atalano connected with Kayden Emerson for a 52-yard touchdown pass to make the score 28-6 after a two-point convert failed. Collinsville got the ball back off the kickoff and ran the clock out to preserve the 28-6 win.
