Jerseyville Police Respond To Occupied Vehicle Shooting
Police say two were taken into custody and nobody was injured after an occupied vehicle on Curtis Street was struck by gunfire.
JERSEYVILLE – The Jerseyville Police Department recently announced limited details of a “shots fired” incident involving an occupied vehicle on Curtis Street.
Jerseyville Police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Curtis Street in response to “a report of shots fired at a vehicle” on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026 at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to a press release from the department.

One group of officers responded to the shooting and secured the scene, while additional officers found the victim’s vehicle located near the Jerseyville Police Department building.
“Officers confirmed that the vehicle, which was occupied at the time of the shooting, had been struck multiple times by gunfire,” the release states. “Fortunately, none of the occupants of the vehicle were struck or injured.”
The Jerseyville Police Department and Jersey County Sheriff’s Office worked together to quickly identify and locate two suspects, who were taken into custody without incident at about 4:19 p.m. the same day.
“The individuals involved were known to one another, and there is currently no known danger to the community related to this incident,” the release states.
The department said the investigation remains ongoing. More information about the suspects and any potential charges “will be released at a later time when appropriate,” but no further information is available at this time.
