Family Mourns Jonnae Nae Abbott After Brooklyn Nightclub Shooting

BROOKLYN, Ill. — The family of 21-year-old Jonnae “Nae” Abbott is grieving after they say she was killed as an innocent bystander during a shootout at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, at The O Night Club in Brooklyn, Ill.

According to fundraiser organizer Mildred Madison, Abbott’s life “was taken far too soon as an innocent bystander” and she was “at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

“Our hearts are shattered by the tragic loss of our beloved Jonnae ‘Nae’ Abbott,” Madison wrote on the fundraiser page. “Jonnae was loving, kind, loyal, hardworking, talented, and full of life, with so many dreams and goals still ahead of her.”

The fundraiser says Abbott’s family is facing the unexpected financial burden of her funeral and homegoing services. Donations will help cover those expenses and help her family give her “the beautiful and dignified farewell she deserves,” according to the page.

“Jonnae ‘Nae’ Abbott’s family is asking the community to please stand with them and help them honor her,” Madison wrote. “Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. If you cannot donate, please share this fundraiser.”

The fundraiser also asks for prayers, love and support for Abbott’s family.

“Rest peacefully, Nae,” the page says. “Your life mattered. Your love will never be forgotten. Your memory will live on forever.”
