Marquette Catholic Tops Roxana In Rival Girls Volleyball Match

ALTON - Marquette Catholic swept Roxana at home Monday night, Sept. 21, 2026, with the varsity team winning 25-12, 25-14, capping a night that also included freshmen and junior varsity victories.
The Explorers’ freshmen won in two sets, 21-8 and 21-11. Marquette’s junior varsity also won in two sets.
In the varsity match, Reese Bechtold led Marquette Catholic with 10 kills. Ari Davenport had 13 assists, Brooke Keller added 11 assists, and Alex Stephan recorded 8 digs.
For Roxana, Josie Brannon had 3 kills, and Hope Stewart-Sperry had 2. Mia Skinner finished with 5 assists and 5 points.
Sophia Powers, Peyton Cincoski and Mazie Magruder each had 6 digs for Roxana. Stewart-Sperry had 2 blocks, and Brannon added 1.
Marquette Catholic plays at home Wednesday night against conference opponent Christ Our Rock Lutheran.
Carlinville plays at Roxana on Tuesday night, and the Shells travel to Southwestern on Monday night.
