Pontoon Beach Man Charged In Fatal Brooklyn Club Shooting
Illinois State Police say a 21-year-old St. Louis woman was struck by gunfire while waiting outside a club.
BROOKLYN, Ill. — A Pontoon Beach man has been charged with first-degree murder in the killing of a 21-year-old St. Louis woman who was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle while waiting to enter a Brooklyn club Sept. 20, 2026, according to Illinois State Police.
Malik D. Day, 26, remains in custody at the St. Louis City Justice Center pending extradition to Illinois. The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the Class M felony charge Sept. 25, 2026, after state police presented the case.

Jon’nae Abbott was standing in line outside Club O Gentlemen’s Club, 213 Madison St., when she was struck by gunfire about 3:26 a.m. on Sept. 20, 2026, Illinois State Police said.
The Brooklyn Police Department requested state police assistance with the homicide investigation that day. Special agents with the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 Major Crimes Unit identified Day as a suspect during the investigation and arrested him, according to state police.
Day was already in custody in Missouri when the charge was issued. Police provided no further information.
The charge is not evidence against the defendant, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
