Giannoulias Opens Modernized Hillsboro DMV As 29th One-Stop-Shop
Reimagined Facility Will Deliver Faster, More Convenient Service to Residents Throughout Montgomery County
HILLSBORO – Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias today unveiled a newly renovated and modernized Hillsboro DMV, bringing faster service, greater efficiency and a more convenient customer experience to residents throughout Montgomery County and the surrounding area.
Located at 2010 N. School St., the upgraded facility is the 29th One-Stop-Shop DMV in Illinois. Under the One-Stop-Shop model, employees are cross-trained to provide both driver and vehicle services, allowing customers to complete multiple transactions at a single counter and improving the flow of customers through the facility.

The Hillsboro DMV offers a full range of services, including driver’s license applications and renewals, REAL ID applications, title and registration services, driving tests and license plate sticker renewals. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The modernization of the Hillsboro DMV is another important step in our effort to transform the DMV experience across Illinois,” Giannoulias said. “By bringing the One- Stop-Shop model to Hillsboro, we’re making it easier and more convenient for residents to complete the services they need while creating a more efficient environment for our employees and customers.”

“This newly renovated DMV is a great investment in Hillsboro and the surrounding community,” said State Senator Steve McClure (54th District – Litchfield). “The One- Stop-Shop model will make it easier and more convenient for residents to access the services they need in one visit, and I’m pleased to see this facility reopen with improvements that will benefit the community for years to come.”
“Modernizing the Hillsboro DMV and bringing the One-Stop-Shop model to the community will make accessing state services more convenient and efficient for local residents,” said State Representative Wayne Rosenthal (108th District – Morrisonville). “This investment will improve the customer experience and make it easier for residents to complete multiple driver and vehicle services in a single visit.”
The Hillsboro DMV originally opened in July 1993 and temporarily closed September 2 at noon for renovations. During the renovation, a temporary pop-up facility was established at the Hillsboro Area Public Library, located at 420 S. Main St., allowing residents to continue accessing essential services in the community.
Customers are encouraged to visit the Secretary of State’s website at www.ilsos.gov to access online services and determine whether an appointment is required for the service they need.
