The Alton Police Department on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, pointed out that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The department said the patches are available at the Records window in its lobby.
"All proceeds from each patch will go to a charitable organization associated with the awareness campaign represented by that patch," the Alton Police Department said.
The department offers three designs: a Breast Cancer Awareness Patch, a Domestic Violence Awareness Patch, and an Autism Awareness Patch. The post did not identify the organizations that will receive the proceeds.
Officers have the option to wear specialty awareness patches on their uniforms throughout the year. The department said the patches provide a visible way to show support and raise awareness for causes affecting people in the community.
Members of the public can display the patches on a collection board or at home, or obtain them to support the campaigns, according to the department.
“Whether you wear one on your collection board, display it at home, or simply want to support an important cause, your donation helps turn awareness into action,” the department said.
