Roxana Wins Madison County Boys Cross Country Team Crown As Highland's Joshua Knobloch Takes Individual Title

The Shells' five scoring runners secured the boys varsity three-mile team victory, while Highland's Joshua Knobloch led a competitive individual field with a standout finish.

ALTON - Roxana won the boys varsity 3-mile team competition with 67 points, while Highland’s Joshua Knobloch captured the individual title in 15 minutes, 44.6 seconds.

Roxana finished 11 points ahead of runner-up Metro-East Lutheran, which scored 78. Triad placed third with 98 points. The supplied results did not identify the meet’s date or location.

Noah Crump led Roxana with a sixth-place finish in 16:02.7. Easton Johnston placed 11th in 16:31.4 and Chrishawn Sewell was 14th in 16:57.8. Rylan Bisby finished 17th in 17:11.8, followed by Conrad Heigert at 21st in 17:27.8, completing Roxana’s five-runner scoring group.

Highland took the top two individual spots. Caleb Knobloch finished second in 15:51.1, behind Joshua Knobloch. Collinsville’s Chase Cummins placed third in 15:54.2, followed by Metro-East Lutheran’s Dean Hemmer in 16:00.2 and Civic Memorial’s Logan Kearbey in 16:01.4.

Metro-East Lutheran had three runners in the top eight. Along with Hemmer, Lucas Abbott finished seventh in 16:05.1 and Henry Reiseck placed eighth in 16:15.9.

Michael Schram paced Triad with a 12th-place finish in 16:45.1. Samuel Skirball finished 15th in 17:06.4, Nile Diehl was 22nd in 17:29.3, Alex Moore placed 23rd in 17:38.6 and Ben Neuner finished 29th in 17:49.7.

Highland finished fourth in the team standings with 107 points, narrowly ahead of Civic Memorial’s 109. Edwardsville was sixth with 113 points, followed by Collinsville with 150, Alton with 184 and Father McGivney with 219.

Civic Memorial’s Mason Woody finished ninth in 16:26.7, and Collinsville’s Daniel Gutierrez-Trejo rounded out the individual top 10 in 16:30.3.

Carson Klasner of Marquette Catholic had a good run with a time of 17:10.8 for 16th place.
