Wolf Pack Den of Hope is a thrift shop and nonprofit that aims to connect community members with resources, including free meals, food, toys, hygiene items and other necessities. Located at 3131 E. 23rd Street in Granite City, the organization will host its biggest giveaway yet featuring a barbecue cookoff, inflatables, prizes and plenty more on Oct. 21, 2026.
“We’re really excited about it, and I’m hoping that it brings a big crowd, and we can just see everyone come together and have fun at a big block party,” said Amanda Wolf, founder of the organization. “I think one of my favorite parts is just the people that I’ve met along the way, seeing everyone just come together. It makes people feel as if there’s someone out there that truly cares, and I think that's important.”
From 5–7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, there will be items available for free as well as games, face-painting, inflatables, door prizes and snacks. Community members and businesses are encouraged to sign up for the barbecue cookoff; everything they cook will be served as a hot meal to attendees.
The giveaway will celebrate the nonprofit’s first anniversary. Everything at the event is completely free.
“There’s absolutely nothing there that will have a fee,” Wolf said. “I just want everyone to know that it’s for everyone. There’s no questions asked, so truly just come and you will be welcomed.”
Wolf Pack Den of Hope started because Wolf and her husband were flipping storage units and had a large collection of clothing. They were initially donating the clothes to Goodwill, but Wolf envisioned an event where people could take the clothes for free with dignity.
Over the past year, this vision has grown into monthly community giveaways. People access clothing, shoes, toys, hygiene items and more at no cost. You can also shop at the Wolf Pack Den of Hope thrift store during their regular hours, where all proceeds benefit the nonprofit side of the organization.
Wolf emphasized that the giveaways aim to support everybody, from folks experiencing homelessness to middle-class people who are feeling the strain in their budgets. Whatever your situation is, the goal is to help with dignity, no questions asked.
It means a lot to the people they help, but Wolf has also been affected by the nonprofit’s work. She shared that she has “really bad memories” of Granite City, where she grew up. With every giveaway, she makes a new, positive association with her hometown and the people who live there. It’s empowering to empower others, and she is grateful for this past year.
Wolf hopes many people come out to the giveaway block party on Oct. 21 at 3131 E. 23rd Street in Granite City. She encourages people to reach out with any questions, and she thanks the businesses and organizations that are contributing to the organization’s celebration.
Looking ahead, Wolf’s goal is for Wolf Pack Den of Hope to continue to expand. She is excited to see how many more people they can help as they keep growing.
“My vision for the next year, at least, is to make it bigger, better, get involved with other local businesses, kind of bring everyone together to be involved in this and give back to our community, but also reach out to neighboring communities,” she said. “I’d love to expand it and even make the giveaways more than just once a month, because the need is definitely there.”
