Multiple Edwardsville shooters have hit 25 consecutive targets during the 2026 fall season. Coach Brian Wilkinson said the club emphasizes safety and mental commitment while recognizing accomplishments.

The Edwardsville High School trap team members are Edison's Entertainment Complex Male Athletes Of The Month.

The club reported Lucas Wilkinson's first 25 straight targets Sept. 8, followed by Wyatt Kayser’s first perfect round Sept. 16 and junior Ty Counton’s first Sept. 30.

In October, the fall league’s Week 5 results listed Edwardsville’s Kaden Blume among three shooters who broke 25 straight targets. Triad’s Trace Spitze and Metro East Lutheran’s Hayden Conger also reached the mark that week.

Wilkinson said hitting 25 consecutive targets is difficult, although some participants in the sport accomplish it consistently. The club recognizes first perfect rounds and longer streaks of 50, 75 and 100 consecutive hits with milestone posts and patches. A streak of 100 requires four consecutive perfect rounds.

“I am proud of every kid who participates regardless of how well they do,” Wilkinson said.

The high school league competes Wednesday nights at Edwardsville Gun Club, with Edwardsville, Collinsville, Triad and Metro East Lutheran among the participating schools. The spring and fall leagues run for 10 weeks, and participants can choose their teammates. Awards recognize the top three squads and the shooter with the highest season average.

Safety remains the program’s first priority, Wilkinson said. Firearms are loaded only when it is a participant’s turn to shoot. Seven or eight coaches work on the fields with the athletes, and coaches stop activity to address safety concerns before they become bad habits.

Wilkinson said volunteer coaches assist Edwardsville and the other high school programs, which he said have an excellent safety record.

“I think they have a lot of fun,” Wilkinson said, adding that participation also carries responsibility.

The Edwardsville High School Trap Club members thanked the coaches for all their dedication and hard work for the team.

This was their statement about the coaches: "A huge thank you to our amazing volunteer coaches who give their time, knowledge, and heart to our athletes! Your dedication, encouragement, and support make such a difference. We couldn’t do this without you!

"Tiger Nation appreciates you more than you know!"
