Now a senior at JCHS, Lancaster has been involved in bowling, Class Council, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Niceness is Priceless and Blue Crew for all four years of her high school career. She’s also been a member of Student Council, National Honors Society and Link Crew since her junior year.

As a Link Crew Coordinator, Lancaster said she helps find and organize time for her and her fellow Leaders to “talk to the eight graders and make them feel welcomed and included.”

Lancaster has earned multiple awards for bowling over the years, including the “On The Prowl” award during her junior year. This award is “given to the athlete who embodies the core values and principles of Jersey Community High School (JCHS) Athletics.” She also earned the Most Improved award for bowling during her sophomore year.

Outside of school, Lancaster said she loves to sew and do arts and crafts and also enjoys bowling. She is also a member of the 4-H club “All American Clovers” and currently works at Los Tres Amigos in Jerseyville.

While nothing is “set in stone” for Lancaster after graduation, she plans on attending a four-year university and hopefully majoring in mathematics. After that, she aims to continue her education and become a lawyer.

English Teacher and Student Council Advisor Sara Casselman described Lancaster as “a true queen in the classroom!” – a thoughtful and passionate student whose natural leadership commands attention from her peers.

“Her peers gravitate toward her every time she talks because her answers are insightful and well-presented,” Casselman said. “She is also willing to go above and beyond with anything I throw at her.”

Principal Thomas Leslie added: "Mila is an awesome Jersey Panther. She goes above and beyond and always has a great attitude. This young lady is going places!"

Congratulations to Mila Lancaster for being honored as an October 2026 Jersey State Bank Student of the Month at Jersey Community High School!
