The clinic was founded in 1976 by Donald Buller, DVM, known as “Doc Senior” among his staff. Today, Buller’s son Daniel Buller, DVM, owns the clinic and recently oversaw its expansion. The expansion has nearly doubled the number of exam rooms available, and the goal is to promote pets’ health.
“Bethalto Animal Clinic is an independently-owned veterinary clinic here to serve clients and pets to live the happiest, healthiest lives we can,” Daniel Buller said. “The thing that I like the most is the people, our clients. They’re just the best. They’re friendly, always wanting to talk. It’s like a big family. Of course, their pets all have their own personalities. It’s really great to help people and keep their pets happy and healthy.”
Bethalto Animal Clinic has seven exam rooms, a procedure room, and a large lab in-house. These amenities allow staff members to do more to help the animals in the Bethalto community and beyond.
Donald Buller shared that his first client was the banker who gave him the loan to start the veterinary clinic. Fifty years later, it has grown into a thriving business, and Donald and Daniel are both proud of what they’ve built.
“From then on, it just progressed,” Donald remembered. “It has grown by leaps and bounds.”
As the clinic has established itself, the staff members have grown even closer. Christy Crutchley serves as the lead receptionist and has worked at Bethalto Animal Clinic for 25 years. She might not be blood, but she feels like part of the family.
She added that the work is fulfilling because she loves to make sure everyone has the support they need to take care of the animals. She works with both the veterinary staff and the clients to keep pets happy and healthy.
“I enjoy educating clients to give their pets the best standard of care and make sure that their pets live a long, happy, healthy life,” she said. “I enjoy working here. It’s a good place to feel at home. The Buller family makes our staff and all of us feel at home. Our entire staff, we all work together to achieve the goal of giving all of our pets the best care that we can give.”
Daniel and Donald Buller are proud of the business they’ve built, and they’re especially delighted that the clinic is in their hometown of Bethalto. Both Bullers have lived most of their lives in the Riverbend region. They care about the people and pets here and will do everything they can to care for them.
“Bethalto is just a great community,” Daniel said. “It’s all I’ve ever known. I’ve grown up with people, watched friends. It’s just great to be part of the community.”
While Bethalto Animal Clinic is expanding, the top-notch care that the community has come to expect from them will remain the same. The Bullers hope to continue for another 50 years, and they encourage people to reach out by visiting their official website or their official Facebook page.
