Adam Hejna Has Bright Swimming Future

EDWARDSVILLE - Adam Hejna was one of the bright lights this season for the Summers Port Swim Club during the Southwestern Illinois Swimming Association season, despite missing out on the SWISA Championship meet July 19, 2026, at the Chuck Fruit Aquatic Center in Edwardsville, due to a late-season injury.

Despite the injury, he feels that he has a bright future ahead in swimming itself, and feels it helps him in other sports he plays.

During an interview conducted during the meet itself, Hejna felt he did enjoy watching his teammates swim well and do their very best during the meet.

"I have a sprained ankle, so it's not for the best to participate," Hejna said, "but we're all out here, having fun and doing the best that we can."

Hejna agreed the main goal of the summer season itself was just having fun.

"And doing what you like," Hejna added.

He does feel that he had a good season, despite missing out on the SWISA meet due to his injury.

"I think I've done pretty well overall in the season," Hejna said. "I think we've all done pretty well, and had a good season, and everybody's done their best. We have a couple of first places actually today (Sunday)."

Hejna feels his best event is the 100-yard individual medley, and he also feels like his had a good future ahead in swimming.

"Once I get stronger, I think I'll be a lot better," Hejna said. "Once I grow up, I'll be a lot better. I think I'll be pretty good."

He's looking ahead to making a big impact in swimming, and he's looking to improve in any sport that he plays in.

"I'm big into sports," Hejna said, "and improving any way I can."
