ALTON — The Alton 3rd Chute, located at 2204 Fosterburg Road, announced on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, on social media that it would be closing "starting today," expressing gratitude to customers and employees for their support over the years. The message acknowledged the difficulty of the decision and apologized for any inconvenience caused by the closure.

In contrast, the Grafton 3rd Chute clarified that it is a separate business with different ownership and confirmed it will continue operations year-round. A statement from the Grafton location addressed public confusion: "Grafton 3rd Chute is not closing! We are completely separated from the 3rd Chute in Alton. Completely different owners... We are also open year-round."

The Alton 3rd Chute’s farewell message highlighted appreciation for the local community and employees who contributed to the business's history.

In a statement released by the business, the owners expressed sincere apologies for any disruption that may have occurred. They extended gratitude to their regular customers, recognizing the community that was built through daily interactions and loyal support.

“To our regular customers and supporters who walked through our doors day after day —thank you. Your kindness, your conversations, your loyalty, and your presence meant more to us than you may ever realize,” the statement read.

The message also highlighted appreciation for employees, thanking them for their dedication, patience, and hard work in the face of challenges and busy days. The owners emphasized their deep appreciation for the employees’ efforts and their continued concern for their well-being.

“We’re grateful for every shift, every late night, every early morning, and every moment you gave. Thank you for standing with us and for giving this business its heart,” the statement said.

The business concluded by thanking all customers, employees, friends, and supporters for being part of its journey.

As of now, only the Alton location has ceased operations, while the Grafton 3rd Chute continues to serve customers.
