Alton Approves $100,000 To Attract 2027 Amphitheater Acts
City agrees to help amphitheater recruit quality entertainment to perform in 2027 with extra $100,000 in Hotel Tax funds.
ALTON – Alton officials recently approved an additional $100,000 to help the Alton Amphitheater attract quality talent next year.

Alton City Council members on Sept. 9, 2026 unanimously passed a resolution allocating $100,000 to the Alton Amphitheater Commission from the city’s Marina Development Fund, also known as the Hotel Tax Fund.
The commission’s ability to book quality entertainers to perform at the venue requires an additional $100,000 at least nine months prior to the event, according to the resolution.
The item was amended at this week’s Committee of the Whole meeting, when Alderman Chris Bohn expanded the allowable uses of the funding. In addition to its original use for “talent acquisition,” the extra $100,000 can now also be used for concert production and logistics for the 2027 season.
Following the City Council’s approval, the disbursement of these funds is effective immediately. Alderman Michael Velloff and Alderwoman Stephanie Elliott were absent from the meeting.
