According to the state’s petition to deny West’s pretrial release from custody, officers responded to a disturbance at Hit-N-Run, where West was reportedly “intoxicated and throwing items around the store.”

“Defendant was found unresponsive inside,” the petition states. “Officers moved to secure him and defendant began to pull away from officers, elbowing one in the face and kicking another in the face.”

West was eventually secured and found to be intoxicated with alcohol, but had no narcotics in his system. The petition notes that “during transport, he repeatedly threatened to kill the officers involved.”

The Alton Police Department presented the case against West, who currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
