Alton Man, Woman Face Felony Aggravated Battery Charges

ALTON – Two Alton residents have been charged with aggravated battery in separate felony cases, with one involving a 10-year-old victim and the other involving a glass jar used as a weapon.

A 48-year-old Alton woman was charged on Dec. 4, 2025 with one count of aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.

On Sept. 4, 2025, the woman allegedly knowingly caused bodily harm to a 10-year-old female child by punching the victim in the face and leaving marks.

Another Alton resident also faces a Class 3 felony aggravated battery charge in a separate but similar case filed on Dec. 3, 2025.

63-year-old Water E. Williams-Bey is accused of knowingly causing bodily harm to another individual on Oct. 23, 2025 by forcefully striking the victim on the head with a glass jar, causing a laceration.

The Alton Police Department presented both cases against the Alton woman and Williams-Bey. The Alton woman was granted pretrial release from custody, while Williams-Bey was ordered remanded to jail for his initial court appearance.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
