The drive is part of The Nest’s premier season, during which the council aims to bring young people into the OWL movement “to help develop and shape the future generations of volunteers,” Isaac Sandidge of OWL said.

The youth advisory council selected the snack drive as its premier activity because supplies are usually low at the start of the winter season and take time to build up, Sandidge added.

Requested items include granola bars, small bags of chips, fruit snacks, small bags of crackers or pretzels, breakfast bars, trail mix, fruit cups, applesauce, Pop-Tarts, and juice boxes of any kind.

Sandidge said the snack collection effort is intended to give youth ownership in the OWL program, build a sense of community, and help them develop skills as they become old enough to join OWL in a more active way.

Sandidge is listed as the contact for the drive at 618-204-6674 for anyone with questions.
