“The Alton Police Department is proud to recognize Detective Tommy Gattuso as our Officer of the Month for December 2025,” Alton Police Chief Jarrett Ford said in a statement.

He added that in “just a few short months,” Gattuso’s “dedication and investigative work helped lead to several charged cases, including two major drug delivery cases, both resulting in Class X felony charges.”

Alton Police said the cases “led to the successful seizure of a significant quantity of cocaine and a substantial amount of illicit currency,” which the department said disrupted “dangerous drug activity in our community.”

The department credited Gattuso with “developing intelligence and coordinating investigations that led to the successful execution of search warrants.” It said the operations were carried out “in partnership with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department SET Team and other local and federal law enforcement partners.”

According to Chief Ford, the outcomes reflected Gattuso’s “attention to detail and persistence,” as well as his ability to “develop intelligence from confidential informants, follow investigative leads, and work collaboratively with partnering agencies to disrupt illegal drug activity.”

“His work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to public safety are evident in the results he has achieved in a short time in the unit,” Chief Ford said.
