Alton Repeat Domestic Battery Offender Charged After Latest Incident
Alton man accused of using hammer during his second domestic battery incident after prior conviction.
ALTON – Alton Police have filed charges against a local resident in his latest felony case of domestic battery.

Broderick D. McGee, 58, of Alton, was charged on Dec. 23, 2025 with two counts of aggravated domestic battery (both Class 2 felonies), aggravated battery (a Class 3 felony), and his second or subsequent offense of domestic battery (a Class 4 felony).
The day prior on Dec. 22, 2025, McGee allegedly knowingly and without legal justification caused great bodily harm to a family or household member using a hammer, causing the victim to sustain significant injuries which required medical intervention.
A petition to deny McGee’s pretrial release from custody was filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, noting McGee had previously been convicted of domestic battery in 2018, also in Madison County.
The Alton Police Department presented the latest case against McGee, who was ordered remanded to jail for his initial appearance in court.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
