All families must attend in-person to register their children for the 2026–2027 school year. Registration will take place in the gymnasium at Alton High School. Caregivers are asked to bring a photo ID and other necessary documents.

From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, families with last names starting with A–K are asked to register. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, families with last names starting with L–Z will attend. There is a makeup day scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.

The district has offered online registration for many years. But after implementing their Reimagine Alton project, administrators received feedback that people miss the in-person opportunities to meet with staff members, ask questions, and learn about resources. This inspired the district to require in-person registration this year.

“It’s really key to the success of the transition into the upcoming school year,” explained Angela Kuchnicki, Director of Student Services. “It gives families that chance, especially new families with new buildings, that time to connect with school staff before the year begins. Meet the principal. Meet that office staff. They’re such key partners. It gives them a familiar face, and they can feel welcomed and supported while they’re entering that new school year.”

If your family is new to the Alton School District, call 618-474-2600 to enroll your child. Returning families need to complete the “Intent to Return” form through Skyward Family Web Access. This information allows Kuchnicki and her team to begin planning for staffing, transportation, class placements and student services.

If you have any questions, you can call the district at 618-474-2600. Kuchnicki looks forward to welcoming all the students and their families to registration next week.

“When they come to this event, it’s one central location,” she added. “They can have all that information to assist families right there in real time and try to get them answers and support so they’re ready to start the school year.”
