Alton-Area Men Accused Of Possessing Stolen Motorcycles

ALTON – Three Alton-area residents have been charged with possessing various stolen motorcycles in separate but similar felony cases.

Lloyd A. Cook, 59, of Alton, was charged on Nov. 19, 2025 with a Class 2 felony count of offenses related to motor vehicles. He was allegedly knowingly in possession of a 2007 Kawasaki ZZR600 motorcycle on Sept. 19, 2025 which he reportedly knew to be stolen.

Scott A. Rector, 37, also of Alton, was charged in a similar but separate case from Nov. 19, 2025 with one count of offenses related to motor vehicles, also a Class 2 felony. Rector is accused of knowingly possessing a stolen 2008 Shanghai Shenke YY150 motorcycle on Aug. 28, 2025.

David A. Hallstead, 38, of East Alton, was charged in another unrelated case on Nov. 19, 2025 with a Class 2 felony count of offenses related to motor vehicles. On Sept. 17, 2025, Hallstead was reportedly found in possession of a 1974 Harley-Davidson motorcycle which he knew had been stolen.

The Metro East Auto Theft Task Force presented each of the cases against Cook, Rector, and Hallstead, all of whom were ordered released from custody pending trial.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
