PIASA - Josie Hagen closed her senior softball season at Southwestern High School with a .467 batting average, 31 RBIs and a college commitment to Southwestern Illinois College, helping lead the Piasa Birds to 18 wins and a deep regional run in late May 2026.
Hagen, a multi-sport athlete and infielder for Southwestern, was a key contributor in the cleanup spot during her final high school season. She also hit one home run.
Josie is an Altonized Community Federal Credit Union Female Athlete Of The Month for the Piasa Birds.
Among her notable performances, Hagen had four hits in a 16-2 victory against Marquette Catholic, a game highlighted by RiverBender. She also delivered a go-ahead single in the seventh inning to beat Calhoun.
Her coach, Amanda Edwards, credited Hagen not only for her production at the plate but also for her leadership.
“Josie speaks softly and carried a big stick,” Edwards said. “She inspired the other kids with her play and actions.”
Beyond softball, Hagen earned recognition as an all-around athlete at Southwestern, where she also excelled in basketball and volleyball.
Hagen has signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Southwestern Illinois College.
