CHICAGOOn the first day of Pride Month, Governor JB Pritzker and lieutenant governor candidate Christian Mitchell reaffirmed their commitment to Illinois’ LGBTQ+ community. While Darren Bailey and MAGA extremists nationwide push hateful rhetoric and support efforts to strip LGBTQ+ rights and protections, Illinois remains a welcoming state for all under Gov. Pritzker’s leadership.

“Fighting for LGBTQ+ rights is in my DNA, and I’m so proud of the progress we’ve made to strengthen protections and expand opportunity for Illinois’ LGBTQ+ community,” said Gov. Pritzker. “While Donald Trump and MAGA extremists want to take us backwards, in Illinois, we will stop at nothing to ensure LGBTQ+ people are safe, welcome, and protected in our state. Illinois will always be a beacon for equality.”

“As a State Representative, I proudly cosponsored Illinois’ Marriage Equality legislation in 2013 because I believe every Illinoisan deserves equal rights and opportunities,” said lieutenant governor candidate Christian Mitchell. “I’m proud of my record advancing LGBTQ+ legislation in the General Assembly. Under JB Pritzker’s leadership, Illinois is a place where everyone is respected, valued, and welcomed – regardless of who they love or how they identify.”

Gov. Pritzker and Christian Mitchell are committed to uplifting the LGBTQ+ community in Illinois – from expanding marriage equality protections to protecting gender-affirming healthcare across the state.
