Authorities Seek Help in Springfield Triple Homicide Case
Offering $35,000 in combined rewards, authorities seek anonymous tips to crack the case of three deaths on Hoover Avenue.
SPRINGFIELD — Authorities are seeking public assistance in solving a triple homicide that left three people dead, including a 9-year-old boy, at a home on Hoover Avenue in Springfield on Oct. 9, 2025.
The victims were identified as 22-year-old Mhy'nesha Day, 21-year-old Devionne Brady, and Cash Russell, 9, who was the juvenile victim in the case.

The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting report at the residence in the 3000 block of Hoover Avenue and found the three deceased inside.
In a joint effort, the FBI Springfield Field Office and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the homicides. Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties is also offering an additional reward of up to $10,000.
Dorothy Jackson, mother of Cash Russell, issued a statement appealing to the community for help. She described her son as “a sweet, gentle, and loving child whose life was taken far too soon” and urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the impact of the loss on Cash’s twin brother and the family.
Sangamon County Sheriff Paula Crouch stressed the importance of community involvement, saying, “Justice for the victims depends on all of us. Our investigators are working tirelessly, and we need the community’s help. If you have any information, no matter how small, please reach out. Your help can bring closure to the families and make our neighborhoods safer.”
Christopher J.S. Johnson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Springfield Field Office, described the incident as a “senseless act of violence” that has “devastated an entire community.”
He noted that substantial investigative resources are being dedicated to the case to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
The investigation remains active, and officials have not released additional details.
