WOOD RIVER - The Wood River Police Department executed a drug-related search warrant in the 500 block of Park Lane on the afternoon of Thursday, May 28, 2026, as part of an investigation that began with an aggravated battery reported early May 27, according to the department.

Wood River Police said the search warrant was tied to an ongoing investigation into the aggravated battery. During that investigation, officers developed information regarding the suspected illegal use of narcotics at the residence.

As a result of the search warrant, evidence was recovered from the residence, police said. The evidence will be submitted to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for further analysis and investigation.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the residence was posted as uninhabitable by the City of Wood River Building Inspector.

“Unfortunately, no community is immune to the dangers associated with illegal drug activity,” Chief Brad Wells said in a statement. “The Wood River Police Department remains committed to aggressively addressing illegal narcotics and protecting the safety and quality of life of our residents.”
