Belleville Man Identified After Deadly Illinois 13 Collision

A major crash involving four vehicles shut down part of Illinois 13 for hours Sunday night. Authorities have released only limited details as the investigation continues.

BELLEVILLE - Illinois State Police said one person was killed and five others were injured in a four-vehicle crash Sunday evening, July 12, 2026, on Illinois 13 south of Red Ray Mine Road.

The crash happened at approximately 6:40 p.m. July 12, 2026, according to preliminary information from ISP Troop 8. Police said troopers responded to a report of a fatal four-vehicle crash at that location.

One occupant was pronounced dead, and five occupants were taken to local hospitals with injuries, state police said. The St. Clair County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Dustin Dontigney, 39, of Belleville.

The roadway reopened at approximately 11:41 p.m., according to state police.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further information was released.
