Bethalto Approves New Fire Truck Purchase

BETHALTO – The Bethalto Fire Department is one step closer to welcoming a new fire truck to its fleet.

Village Board members on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, unanimously passed an ordinance approving a Purchase Agreement which allows the village to purchase a new fire truck.

At the meeting, Mayor Gary Bost said the village agreed to budget for this purchase last July, using $100,000 of last year’s budget as a down payment on the truck.

In addition to authorizing the new fire truck purchase, the ordinance also authorizes a Fire Department budget adjustment to cover the total cost of the vehicle over the next six years.

Bost said this adjustment amounts to a Fire Department budget decrease of $113,000 per year for the next six years, but will save the village from paying $144,000 in interest on the purchase.
