ALTON - Bluff City Grill will host its beloved July 3 party with great views of the Alton fireworks.

From 4–11 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, community members are invited to Bluff City Grill to enjoy food and drink specials, live music, a bags tournament and a top-notch view of the fireworks at 9 p.m. Manager Jimmy McGibany can’t wait to welcome the community out for an unforgettable holiday at an Alton staple.

“It’s basically a big family atmosphere as far as Bluff City and its employees are concerned. Anybody who’s ever there is there on July 3,” McGibany said.

On July 3, the fun kicks off with DJ Kirsten Gray from 4–7 p.m. Lady Luck rounds out the night with live music from 7–11 p.m.

Registration for the Red, White & Bags Tournament opens at 4 p.m. and bags fly at 5 p.m. The Alton fireworks launch at 9 p.m. and McGibany noted the fireworks “go up over the top of you” if you’re positioned at their viewing station on the roof.

There will be the normal drink specials — including sangria and Yuengling Flight and Lager pints — and fun inside the restaurant that night, featuring “Dakota’s almost-famous barbecue pork steak,” a Bluff City chili cheese dog with house-made chili, and a deluxe Bluff City Grill pulled chicken sandwich as their food specials.

Outside on the upper patio, attendees can enjoy the pork steak, house-smoked pulled chicken, house-smoked pulled pork, nachos, all-beef hot dogs, brats, and plenty of beer, seltzers and Fireball shooters.

McGibany noted that those who wish to eat inside the restaurant are encouraged to make a reservation. The patio is “first come, first served” and will fill up quickly. There is some seating available but attendees can bring their own lawn chairs if desired. He added that it’s a lot of fun to celebrate with so many community members.

“Every table inside the building and out on the patio is completely full,” McGibany said. “The roof of the parking garage is usually wall-to-wall with people packed in and ready to enjoy some music and fireworks and good times.”

Following the July 3 party, Bluff City Grill will be closed on July 4, 5 and 6. They will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, July 7. McGibany said it’s important to the owners to give their staff “a little vacation time with their family over the weekend” after such a big celebration.

He commended the staff members who work hard to make Bluff City Grill a local favorite every day, but especially during the July 3 excitement. While it’s a busy day, it’s fun to be a part of, and the team’s work demonstrates their ability and commitment to serving the Riverbend region year-round.

“That’s probably about an eight-mile day for me. But I’m extremely lucky as a manager,” McGibany said. “I just want to give a shoutout to everybody on staff at Bluff City Grill. Front of the house, back of the house and the kitchen, everybody, they just do an amazing job. I’m so lucky as a manager to have such a great staff.”
