

HARDIN - Calhoun's football squad lost a IHSA Class 1A football playoff heartbreaker to Brown County 14-13 on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, in front of a capacity crowd at Calhoun High School.

Brown County's Eli Stanton ran 11 yards for a score with 2:47 left in the fourth quarter and then also ran in the extra point conversion to clinch the victory.
Calhoun valiantly fought back with just seconds remaining in the game when Easton Wallendorf scored on a 24-yard pass reception from Earl Elmore. The extra-point conversion run failed, which would have advanced Calhoun to the IHSA 1A state championship next Friday.
Jake Brannan scored first in the game for Calhoun after a scoreless first half. Brannan darted 11 yards for the first touchdown with 7:25 left in the third quarter. Jack Goode added the kick for the Warriors to take a 7-0 lead.
Trey Fullerton countered for Brown County with a 1-yard run with 4:43 remaining in the fourth quarter before Stanton's touchdown and extra-point conversion run that proved to be the winner in the game.
Brown County plays Lena-Winslow at 10 a.m. on Friday at Normal for the 1A state championship.
