Cottage Hills Man Detained After Alleged Attempted Flight From Police

COTTAGE HILLS – A Cottage Hills man accused of striking a vehicle after fleeing from police through a construction zone at high speeds remains in custody.

Anthony B. Adams, 25, of Cottage Hills, was charged on Dec. 22, 2025 with a Class 4 felony count of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer.

On Dec. 20, 2025, Adams allegedly failed to obey and attempted to elude a Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy who gave Adams a visual or audible signal to stop the vehicle he was driving. Charging documents state his attempted flight from the officer exceeded 21 miles per hour above the area’s legal speed limit.

The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to deny pretrial release from custody for Adams. According to the petition, Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle which had earlier been reported as fleeing from Roxana police officers.

“The vehicle accelerated away from the stop, traveling at speeds of 95 mph in a 55 mph zone,” the petition states. “The vehicle continued fleeing through a construction zone, then attempted to maneuver between two vehicles, striking one vehicle and then ultimately becoming disabled.”

Deputies were then able to identify Adams as the driver of the vehicle.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office presented the case against Adams, who currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
