The St. Louis Cardinals selected a total of 42 players in the 2016 MLB Draft, the majority of which (34) coming from the collegiate ranks. Nineteen pitchers, three of them left-handed, joined nine infielders, ten outfielders, and four catchers as selections.

The Cardinals have a draft pool of $9,080,700.00 (Baseball America) to use to sign on their picks from the first 10 rounds. Each of those picks has been assigned a slotted value, however, the team may allocate their draft pool funds as they choose amongst picks.
