Early And Mail-In Voting Starts In 10 Days
An overview of local early voting locations and times, plus how to apply for a mail-in ballot in your county for the 2026 general election.
EDWARDSVILLE – Local voters are 10 days away from casting their first votes in the 2026 general election.
Sept. 24, 2026 marks the first day for early voting and for election authorities to send out vote-by-mail ballots. Election Day falls on Nov. 3, 2026.

Early Voting Sites
Early voting will take place across local counties from Sept. 24 to Nov. 2, 2026, the day before Election Day.

Early voting in Jersey County is held at the Jersey County Clerk’s Office at 200 N. Lafayette Street in Jerseyville. Early voting hours are from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Greene County voters can cast early ballots at the Greene County Clerk’s Office, located at 519 N. Main Street in Carrollton. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Saturday early voting hours on Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Early voting for Calhoun County will be available at the Calhoun County Clerk’s Office at 301 S County Rd. in Hardin. Early voting hours have been set for Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with Saturday voting hours on Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Macoupin County voters can vote early at the Macoupin Voting Center, located at 227 E. First South St. in Carlinville. Early voting hours in Macoupin County differ slightly from other counties, with Monday through Friday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Early voting hours in Macoupin County will also be held on two Saturdays, Oct. 24 and 31, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A series of “after hours” early voting sessions will also be available from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, 20, 22, 26, 27, and 28.
Voting By Mail
State law allows election authorities to start mailing out vote-by-mail ballots 40 days before Election Day, which is Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026.
The Illinois State Board of Elections lets voters to apply for a mail ballot up to five days before an election. Voters seeking to vote by mail in the 2026 general election must mail their completed applications to their local election authority by Oct. 29, 2026.
Madison County voters can apply to vote by mail in this election or all future elections by filling out this application and mailing it to the Madison County Clerk at 157 N. Main St., Room 109 or P.O. Box 218, Edwardsville, IL 62025.
Jersey County voters can also apply to vote by mail in this election only or all future elections by submitting this completed application by mail or email to the Jersey County Clerk at elections@jerseycounty-il.gov or P.O. Box 216, Jerseyville, IL 62052.
Calhoun County voters can fill out this application for one-time vote-by-mail or permanent vote by mail status and mail it to the Calhoun County Clerk at P.O. Box 187, Hardin, IL 62047.
To vote by mail in this election or permanently in Greene County, voters can complete this application and mail it to the Greene County County Clerk and Recorder at 519 N. Main Street in Carrollton, IL 62016.
Macoupin County voters can apply online to vote by mail in this election only or complete a separate application to permanently vote by mail. Permanent vote-by-mail applications must be mailed to the Macoupin County Elections Office, P.O. Box 107 Carlinville, IL 62626.
St. Clair County voters can apply for a vote-by-mail ballot via the County Clerk website.
