EAST SAINT LOUIS — The East Saint Louis Police Department welcomed six new police officers on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, marking a significant step in bolstering the city’s law enforcement team.

The recruits will begin a 16-week training program at the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy, followed by a period of field training.

The department emphasized that this marks the start of their careers in serving the City of Champions.

The East Saint Louis Police Department encouraged the community to join in congratulating and welcoming the new officers as they prepare to take on their responsibilities in the city.

The East St. Louis city administration expressed pride in all the new hires for the police department.

"Their journey has just begun, and we couldn’t be more excited to see the impact they will make," East St. Louis city police and administration officials said in a statement.
