In their regional quarterfinal game, a 58-6 win over Alton on Sept. 29, Sever caught two touchdown passes in the first half, from 17 and four yards out, to help the Tigers advance to the semifinals. For the season, she's caught 14 passes for 168 yards and five touchdowns, helping the Tigers to an undefeated season so far.

In an interview that followed the win over the Redbirds, Sever felt very hyped up about the start of the postseason and is ready to help the Tigers out however she can.

"We're super excited, and we're going to get through," Sever said. "We're a great team, we gel really well together, and we love each other."

Keeping the undefeated record, now at 14-0 going into the game against the Lions, is a great feeling, especially since the Tigers fell short of the state championship, losing in the quarterfinals by a point.

"Yeah, it's great," Sever said. "Especially last year, at state. This year, we're working hard, so we can get back there."

It was only the first win of eight the Tigers need to bring back the title to Southern Illinois, and Sever and her teammates are bound to work hard and stay the course towards a possible championship.

"Yes, of course," Sever said. "We're going to work hard every day, each game; we're going to work harder and harder. We're locked in."

Sever described her touchdown catches as one and the same: being in the right place at the right time.

"Ella's (Wallace) passing it," Sever said, "and then, the defender in front of me was in it, so I jumped in, and I caught it."

As far as the remainder of the postseason, Sever's goals and ambitions for herself and the team are all based on hard work and perseverance.

"I think just going hard each play, even if we make some mistakes," Sever said, "just having a clear mind and going hard each time, having a positive attitude for each other."

Sever also believes that this could be the Tigers' year to win the championship, a just reward for the team's hard work all season.

"I think we're looking good," Sever said for the postseason. "As long as we keep working hard and work together, we have it, I think."
