Edwardsville Man Detained In Latest Domestic Battery Case

EDWARDSVILLE – An Edwardsville man with a history of domestic violence faces a new felony charge following a second domestic battery incident last week.
Nathaniel D. Shaw, 44, of Edwardsville, was charged on Nov. 17, 2025 with his second or subsequent count of domestic battery, a Class 4 felony.
Shaw allegedly struck a household or family member about the head and body, causing bruising on Nov. 14, 2025. He had previously been convicted of aggravated domestic battery in a prior Madison County case from earlier this year.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to deny Shaw’s pretrial release from custody. The petition states that at the time of this latest offense, Shaw was on probation for battering the same victim in the previous case. He allegedly violated the terms of his probation by cutting off his ankle monitoring device and contacting the victim, making him “a danger to this victim and a flight risk.”
The latest domestic battery case against Shaw was presented by the Collinsville Police Department. The state’s petition was upheld by a Detention Order filed in this case, and Shaw currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
