Edwardsville Police Charge Missouri Man With Shooting During ‘Road Rage Incident’
Missouri man accused of firing shots from window of moving vehicle before fleeing from multiple police agencies across state lines.
EDWARDSVILLE – A Missouri man faces a felony in Madison County after allegedly firing shots at another driver during a “road rage incident” in Edwardsville.

Brendon T. Sydnor, 25, of Ballwin, Mo., was charged on Jan. 8, 2026 with a Class 4 felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm. Sydnor allegedly knowingly discharged a firearm in a reckless manner on Dec. 5, 2025, endangering the bodily safety of another individual.
He is specifically accused of firing two rounds from the driver’s side window of a moving motor vehicle during a reported “road rage incident,” according to a petition to deny his pretrial release from custody filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
“Edwardsville Police Department was dispatched to S. State Route 157 and Harmony Drive for shots fired during a road rage incident,” the petition states. “Victim reported she was traveling eastbound on Interstate 270 and exited onto State Route 157 northbound when a silver Chevrolet Cruze with no visible registration and a broken passenger taillight began driving erratically.”
The victim photographed the vehicle while stopped for a red light at the intersection; when the light turned green, Sydnor reportedly positioned his vehicle behind the victim’s before escalating the situation.
“The defendant brandished a black Glock handgun with [an] extended magazine and fired two to three rounds out the driver's side window near the 3000 block of State Route 157,” the petition states.
A nearby witness corroborated the victim’s account the incident, telling authorities they saw “an arm extend from the suspect vehicle's window with a handgun and fire two shots” while the victim’s vehicle was one to two car lengths ahead.
Officers were able to identify Sydnor as the driver based on the victim’s photograph and booking photos. Cell phone records from Verizon for Sydnor’s phone number also placed his phone at the exact location and timeframe of the shooting.
“Glen Carbon Police Department located the suspect vehicle on Interstate 270 eastbound and attempted a traffic stop,” the petition continues. “Defendant immediately fled at high speed southbound on State Route 159. Officers terminated pursuit due to public safety concerns.”
After officers received multiple reports of Sydnor fleeing through the area, he was eventually pursued by the Pontoon Beach Police Department on Interstate 55 southbound near Route 203 before Sydnor continued to flee into Missouri.
“Defendant fled from multiple police departments across states following the shooting and poses an ongoing danger to the community,” the petition concludes.
Sydnor’s case was presented by the Edwardsville Police Department, and he was ordered remanded to jail for his initial court appearance.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
