Edwardsville Police Release Holiday Enforcement Campaign Results
Local officers partnered with Illinois agencies to conduct extra traffic stops during the holiday season targeting impaired driving and speeding violations.
EDWARDSVILLE – Over the holiday season, the Edwardsville Police Department teamed up with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement agencies statewide for the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” and “Drive High. Get a DUI.” campaigns.
As part of this campaign, officers conducted 25 traffic stops. These stops were in addition to those made during regular patrols. The extra stops led to two arrests for impaired driving, one for driving with a suspended license, and 20 citations – 12 for speeding and eight for other violations.

“These results highlight our dedication to community safety,” Lt. Matt Senci said. “Impairment - whether from alcohol, cannabis, or other drugs - can be deadly. We urge everyone to always arrange a sober ride.”
The holiday enforcement campaign was administered by IDOT with federal highway safety funds managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and is part of Illinois’ “It’s Not a Game” statewide media outreach program.
