Edwardsville Prepares For Big Matchup With Alton: Cook Tops Scorers With 18-Point Outing As Tigers Topple Maroons

EDWARDSVILLE — Edwardsville’s girls basketball team secured a 63-40 victory over Belleville West on Tuesday night, Dec. 9, 2025, at Belleville West’s gym as a tune-up for a key Tigers game against Alton on Thursday.

The Alton-Edwardsville girls' game starts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025.

The Tigers built a 33-18 halftime lead and maintained control throughout the Southwestern Conference matchup.

Edwardsville’s Gabby Cook led all scorers with 18 points, while Mia Semith contributed 13 points and Journey Anderson added 11.

Belleville West’s GaKorrie Green scored 18 points, with Tori Powe adding eight points. The loss dropped the Maroons to 0-4 on the season, while Edwardsville improved to 4-3.

The Tigers will also host Belleville East for another important conference game on Thursday, Dec. 18.
