Edwardsville To Unveil Refurbished Leclaire Water Tower
Completed this fall, the project included structural repairs and new lighting, enhancing the iconic 1929 water tower’s presence in the historic district.
EDWARDSVILLE — The City of Edwardsville will hold a lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, to unveil the newly refurbished Leclaire water tower, a nearly century-old landmark located at Longfellow Avenue and Troy Road in the Leclaire neighborhood.
The refurbishment project, completed this fall, included cleaning, painting, essential structural maintenance, and the installation of customizable lighting designed to highlight the historic water tower’s significance within the Leclaire National Historic District.

Built in 1929 as part of the planned community for the N.O. Nelson Manufacturing Company, which later became part of Edwardsville, the Leclaire Water Tower has not been in service since approximately 1986.
The recent restoration involved structural repairs, a new paint job featuring "Historic Leclaire" lettering, and upgraded lighting intended to make the tower a prominent symbol for the city moving forward.
City officials said the lighting ceremony will showcase the tower’s new capabilities and celebrate the improvements made to this venerable symbol of Edwardsville.
